This is due to the fact that the class that hides the captcha is regenerated when the comment form is created and so the CSS hiding rules do not apply.

Hello, I'm having the same issue, but only when I edit an existing comment with ajax comments module enabled, should I apply the patch in #1978718: Ajax support? Because the patch is pretty old, though it seemed to have worked for some people.

You could give it a try. The patch probably needs to be re-rolled.

I tried to apply it but the patch couldn't apply. I guess I'll just hide this part with CSS. Anyway, thanks, this module is great, much more efficient than classic captcha and user friendly.
