Menu Items disappeared after enabling than disabling access

Hello, I first thought I wanted to limit anonymous users viewing of an entire content type (basic page) and made the changes to do so under access control. I then decided that limiting access to individual content would be better so changed the access on each individual content page. I then went back and re-enabled access to anonymous viewers for the content type (basic pages). But even though it says it is enabled under access control, the menus with the content type (my projects and about us page both contain "basic page" content) do not appear. If I navigate to mypage/projects or mypage/about_us the anonymous user can see them, just not the menu links to the items. Please advise. Thanks for the community support on this issue!!
