In addition to the "required" functionality it would be great to include "recommended" modules so that site admins would know when module X would be enhanced by module Y. Module X would still work without Module Y (hence Y is not required) but installing module Y makes module X cooler.

vm commentedThis could ceate some problems. Example: CCK has 30 some addon modules Organic Groups also has a plethora of modules. This type of feature stands to add weight and wait in the admin/modules area.

vm commentedcorrect that: CCK has 86 views has 53 ecomernce 24.
CCK and views alone which on many sites both get installed would show 129 extra lines of data.

webchickYeah, I tend to concur. Plus, it would make a headache for maintainers getting issues posted to their queue all the time about "Hey! Recommend *my* module!"
I do understand the nature of the feature request, as this would be nice information to know, but I wonder if there's another way to go about implementing it. Hrm.
What is it about the current "Browse by category" thing that doesn't fit your needs?

dave reidMarking this as a duplicate of #328932: Modules and partial dependencies - enhances[] and enhancedby[] field in modules' .info.yml files since there has been a lot more traction in that issue.
