On my Drupal 5.3 system with scheduler 5.x-1.7, all nodes have this meta added in the head
unavailable_after: 01-Jan-1970 01:00:00 Europe/Amsterdam
even though I did not schedule it to be unpublished. This might defer crawlers to slow down site crawling. The code is found at line 155 in scheduler.module. Apparently it does fill in the aforementioned date when none is provided.
