Go to Site configuration > Image cache and open the preset you want to flush. There is a "Flush preset images" button which will clear all cached images for that preset.
Thanks for the reply but the thing is that I want the imagecache to be flushed automatically and not manually. For example when a user uploads a new picture the old one will still be showing and will not be replaced by the new one. If I manually flush the imagecache that will solve the problem but just for that exact moment.
