Add description field to rule and components [#1889434]

I would like to request a description field for rules/components (I believe it should go under the settings fieldset when editing a rule). This would allow admins to leave a description of what their rule is about or why it exists, which would be helpful when site admins change or you forget yourself when going back to it years later. Thanks.

I 2nd this as a need. Some or most rules are fairly easy to understand but when you have 50+ commerce related rules with components and multiple AND and OR condition sets - it's not so easy to recall 2 months later all the details and reasons behind the logic, let alone someone else.

Yes, at the time of creating and naming a rule there should be a field for a description that will show on the rules list page. It should be editable under the "settings" area just below where the name can be changed.

I'm guessing this is a pretty simple tweak.

How can I add a "description" field to the Rule creation form?
How can I then display this data on the main rules list page?

Any guidance would be great.
