I have noticed that if you create a Field Collection and use the widget Media file selector for your image, when you go to the display settings of the node and choose slideshow format, then you can not choose an image.

Subscribing, I am having this problem as well but slightly different in that, if you choose file for the field type, then the option for a slideshow is not even available. See attached screenshots.

Hopefully this is fixed soon, I am relying on this module to achieve a page for my site.
