Book website using Survey module
Hello everyone,
I'm new in Drupal, after some months trying to decide which CMS to use, at the end I adopted the Drupal way... I really love the module and node concepts, not like in other CMS that use so many different things for "just the same"... so let's all go the best way, the Drupal way!
Ok, after this small "Drupalism propaganda", I'd like to ask some questions regarding a small Website for the new edition of a book I'm writing. I'd like to offer the old version for free, but it would be nice to have some info regarding what the readers like and don't like so I can make the new version better. I decided just to present a frontpage with a small introduction of the book and a downloadable pdf with the first chapter, and allow the users to join the website, then they can access to different surveys (for each group of chapters), after filling each one they will receive the correspondant pdfs and I will get the answers.
Ok, so I searched for modules and found "survey module", which does exactly what I want. My question is how to edit the validation for each field (I just got 2 options, url and email) and if it's possible to edit the layout or add new types of fields (maybe with CCK, but then could I send the results to an excel spreadsheet?)
I also thought about sending the pdfs node by Email, is there any easy way to manage the access and add a kind of flag so the pdfs nodes will be only accesible for users who filled the corresponding surveys (using roles I need one for each chapter, that's too much)
Thank you!

Book Website
Hi Dan,
I have a similar challenge, an author friend wishes to rewrite edit an
older release and bring it up to date. In December he will send me a
chapter per week to publish on my site and have the users comment on the
chapter drafts. I too am thinking about adding Drupal to the site.
These are my concerns:
Among the issues bringing me back is I've seen an Email Integration at
http://www.portside.org/accountmanagement where users can opt to receive
emails of any postings to the site.
Question: Is this email list integration available on version 4.7 OR 5.3?
Question: Would someone kindly direct me to this module?
Question: Can the "Book: structured document publishing" module be config to send email to list members?
Question: Would anyone be kind and list a few URLs sites that are using "Book: structured document publishing" to revise large documents among a group of writers or among a group of reviewers?
It would seem that our questions would have been answered, that someone has gone through this kind of build design before. We just need to connect with the right people.
Cheers,
Tony

I think we talk about
I think we talk about different things. You want to use the Book module, but what I want is using "Survey" module to get user information and after completing that survey they would get a chapter in pdf and gain access to the next surveys and chapters...
Answers:
1st Question: Both
2nd Question: I think the best way is http://drupal.org/project/subscriptions
3rd Question: the former module enables any node to be "subscriptable"
4th Question: drupal homepage is full of them...
See you,
Daniel
different things
Hmm, I understand now. Thank you and best wishes with your project
