As a site administrator, I created a group and was told it was in a moderators queue, without any information on how to access that queue. For a brand new user (i.e. someone evaluating Commons), this should be clear. There is no warning that groups will be unpublished until approved, we should fix that.

Could the dsm detect if they've got permissions?

See also #1787306: Group Moderation view.

I plan to conduct usability studies around all this, timeline tbd.

Also, please make it optional to have groups moderated. In our use-case, we don't need approval, users can create groups without approval.

Ah, leave it, this is probably just default user permissions :)

Highlighting the importance for this. Users that submit unpublished groups will get a message, but if they miss that, or logout, its now in a black hole. Admins don't know that there are groups in the moderation queue.

We could simply add a dsm as Lisa suggested.
