Irritatingly made a big mistake with Alpha 2 release, by not returning an array from a hook_update_N() function. Please, see release notes for Alpha 2 for the meat of recent changes in this module.
Note: anyone using this release for integration with Advanced Forum should switch to Alpha 3. There are some big changes coming down the line and the -dev version is about to get very unstable.
