display:inline fields are floating around as I hover over them [#1893646]

This one is going to be weird to explain, but basically as I attempt to hover on and click into smaller editables such as username and date, they end up sliding away from my mouse and pushing down, so that it eventually ends up looking like this:

This is going to be highly annoying, so rating as a major bug.

Link to the fix? This will be relevant for D8 too, but there this is hard to test, because title/author/date are not in-place editable yet, and hence we have zero display: inline fields in D8.
