Can you please provide a little more detail or, even better, a screenshot?

I've tested with a new content type, with drupal 7.19 and phone module from dev, and could not reproduce this error.

Thanks for investigating. This happened on the first attempt to add a phone field but not on subsequent attempts.

Have you created the field through the Drupal field interface? The process of creating a new field was interrupted in any situation before the error?

Any additional detail would be very helpful.
