Maybe this is arguable, but a common mistake is to mess up the path to the platform when you create a new one, especially if you created the platform outside of aegir and just want to import it. In this case, the verify fails (as it should), and you'd like to fix that path and retry that verify. But now since you can't change the platform path, you're stuck at doing the clunky "let's delete the node" bit, which will also leave the alias lying behind.
