Multisite + Install Profiles possible

Bit confused: Install Profiles locates modules under /profiles but a multisite setup looks for path patterns under /sites; is it possible to combine these approaches?

of course, all themes and modules under profile folder will installed under sites folder after you are running installation, sites folder is user configuration folder.
