This user http://drupal.org/user/2445452 has continued to be 'abusive' despite serval warnings to 'play nicely' and being refered to the dcoc. See http://drupal.org/node/1885120

Not sure if a warning can be given in the form of a timeout.

I can attest to this.

Blocked the user. Maybe somebody wants to unblock later?

Is behaving like an idiot, but I say not worth any more attention.
*My* call is that any interference *at this time* would just make more noise and annoyance.

This immature & antisocial history is noted, but please, this time, just ignore and move on. Nothing is to be gained there.

Apologies to marcingy and spatz4000 for the minor name-calling, and thanks for bringing it up, but I please just ignore this one. I think they will have a short attention span - if not given the chance to be the drama queen.

Do re-open if this starts again in another thread, and we'll revisit it maybe.

The user is still blocked, btw.

Seems to me that a 2 week block is appropriate. I'll send a contact message and add a todo in my personal calendar to unblock on the 11th.

I agree this user is behaving inappropriately. Their perspective that the issue is "their issue" to control the category/priority is not accurate given the project thresholds system. Further, that was explained them and they refused to pay attention to it.

Hi udy,

I just wanted to let you know that your account is temporarily blocked for about 2 weeks.

I encourage you to read https://drupal.org/dcoc about our community standards of interaction.

After your account is unblocked, there is a thread at https://drupal.org/node/1901326 where it might be appropriate for you to leave a comment.

Thanks!
Greg

Unblocked.

Seems the user is changing statuses again. Not sure what, if anything should be done.

Same user most probably created: http://drupal.org/user/2484614 (now blocked) and used it to troll http://drupal.org/node/1885120

They are on the same IP - anyone want to block it?

Udy indicated to me via email that he has read and re-read the dcoc, that he understands some of his comments were inappropriate, and that he will apologize for them.

I've unblocked his account based on that. My sense is that his community karma is not in good shape and he'll need to work to fix that, but that's not a reason to keep someone out of the community forever.

WorldFallz’s picture

seriously greggles? Even after the obnoxious comments in 15 and 16 above (clearly after reading dcoc and being warned)? we've permanently blocked users for less so I'm not sure why you're being so forgiving in this case.

greggles’s picture

It's clear that historically I tend to be more forgiving than others. I discussed this with Killes and he agreed.

I'm open to someone else overriding me. I would appreciate at least giving Udy a little while, though.

I know that I personally have behaved in an emotional behavior in the past and dug myself into a hole where I would have preferred to get a second chance but couldn't.

WorldFallz’s picture

Had the snotty comments not been made just today-- long after being asked nicely, warned, temporarily blocked, and whatnot I probably would have agreed. That said though, I defer to you and killes.

I do not want to make things much worse, but I need to say something here. Please do not remove this comment (if any of you think this is in-appropriate, you can block me. forever. But do not remove this comment)

Some people in any community thinks that they own the community or they are "in-charge" of it once they dwell in it for quite a some time. That's why they do things like changing details of someone else's issues with out any comments or without any intention of helping. Or say things like "we live here". These things result in the so called "welcoming community" to become un-friendly and un-welcoming.

Also I do not understand what did you expect by blocking the usernames and IPs. We all know how much easily can anyone log in to the site with an anonymous IP.

Now also you blame @greggles for sorting this out ! Please understand, blocking IPs, accounts and making a big deal out of a troller will only motivate him to do more.

Thanks to @greggles for un-blocking me and as I promised you I will not behave in-appropriately again.
Finally for all the haters who "live here" and "own this place", following quote is for you;

Hatreds never cease through hatred in this world

Hi udy,

You claim that others who have worked in the issue queue for a long time and were providing you free support are not "in charge" of the queue. I agree a community belongs to everyone, but there are certain rules in the queue and you were ignoring them. Your bug is a classic installation/misconfiguration problem and people were giving you advice related to that as a support request (which it was). You kept reclassifying it as a bug which is a problem because of the way issue queue thresholds are handled in the core queue. In #17, Tor Arne Thune explained how that works to you and at least at that point you stopped flipping the statuses. In that case, my sense is that you felt you "owned" your issue which was a misplaced sense of ownership - sure it's your issue but you have to work within the community standards in terms of how issue statuses are used.

The second big set of rules you ignored were the dcoc, pointed out to you many many many times at this point. In an email to me you said that you have read it and that you agree with it. You also said that you will apologize for your rude comments in #1885120: Only home page working! and I am waiting for that public apology.

Your point about blocking users (emails) and IPs being an insufficient solution is a good one. Unfortunately it's about the only tool we have for mid-level trolls. When trolls go far enough we do report them to the police. So far, at least, blocking emails/IPs seems to be an annoying enough problem for trolls that they stop. Please don't be the exception to that rule that makes us find more tool :)
