I just converted my site from a crappy template provider to Drupal (with a lot of help!). So far I'm loving it. I'm a definite newbie when it comes to Drupal, so any feed back would be appreciated. I'm trying to figure out how to display a snippet of the lastest blog post on the home page and then do the same for any category feeds on the appropriate city/subject page (like I said, I'm a noob). Please take a look and let me know what you think.

Nice looking site. I think
Nice looking site. I think the body type could use some extra line spacing and paragraph spacing because it's really dense. Other than that it looks great.

Views module?
For displaying snippets, you might look into the Views module...maybe make your view a block.
The Views module takes a little learning, but it's very powerful, and if you'll be messing around with Drupal it's worth the investment of time.

I've just been digging around in the how to's. I'll take a look at the view module, thanks. I'm sure what I want to do isn't that difficult for someone that knows what they are doing. People do it in WordPress all the time.

snippet vs teaser
What it sounds like you are wanting is called the teaser.

Views ultimately can give you a tremendous amount of control so it's worth the additional learning curve.
