This may be by design, but FP doesn't run the Body content of the Front Page through any input filters or even give one the option to apply an input filter. This creates a problem if one is trying to use tools like SWFTools.

I can't remember why the standard input filters weren't used for the front page.module (I inherited the module from someone else.) I think it was assumed that only ADMIN would be allowed to change the front page.

The module is due an update soon, so I'll look into your request

Drupal 5 is no longer supported by Front Page however this option is available in the 7.x-2.x branch of front page and I will be backporting it to the 6.x-2.x branch if you are interested.
