I am certain I have bitten off more than I can chew with things but I am building a new website for my father and am in the process of setting up their library... I have configured Views to display everything fine but only with a selection of the items in the library.

Now I want to import the rest of the items and as their is about 13,000 or so items to import, doing it by hand is obviously not really something I want to do.

I have installed the Migrate Module as my research seems to suggest that this is by far the best way to import this many items. My problem is that I am not yet a proficient developer and so not sure how to actually set this up and use it.

I have found a number of sites that seem to run through migrating from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7 but i have all the items I need in an xml file.

Is there an idiot`s guide for a non-proficient developer to using the migrate module with an xml file so I can import all the remaining items into the content type I have already set up for these?

Unfortunately, this is still one of those advanced type modules that typically require advanced skills to use. There's no secret stash of documentation-- the only mention of xml I know of is the section on xml sources in the project's documentation and a few issues in the issue queue.

Ah poo lol

Thanks, I suspected that this was the case.. Will have to try and learn how to work it then as I think it will be still be faster than manually re-adding everything... Just too many items..

the XML to Node module still

the XML to Node module still in development version, you can try in development site. If conversion working fine you can use in production site.
