It doesnt seem to work with body field that is available in all text areas.

Am I missing something or is it supposed to be this way? Is there a way to make it work?

jWysiwyg should work with any format enabled textarea field. Can you think of something which has been done to the body field and not the others?

Area you seeing any JavaScript errors in the browser's console?
Are you using a custom theme? If so, does it work with a default theme?
