This is a replacement and not an upgrade for the former gsitemap. Please put this in an xmlsitemap directory rather than a gsitemap directory. Installing XML Sitemap will automatically replace Google Sitemap. If you are already using this version and you want to update to the latest code, uninstall your current version first.

i don't quite clear on the statement above, sorry about that. does that mean that i placed it in /sites/all/modules/xmlsitemap rather than /sites/all/modules/gsitemap

this is the installation guide from the install.txt

$Id: INSTALL.txt,v 1.4.2.1 2007/10/30 17:28:15 darrenoh Exp $
XML Sitemap Module

If you are upgrading from Google Sitemap, make sure you are using the latest
version.

Installation Instructions:

1. Place the xmlsitemap directory in sites/all/modules.

2. Enable this module at Administer -> Site building -> Modules.

3. The sitemap is now operational at ?q=sitemap.xml. Configure advanced
options at Administer -> Site configuration -> XML Sitemap.

so i am abit confuse with the statement quoted

sorry again.. where is the xmlsitemap directory because

when you unzip gsitemap-5.x-2.x-dev.tar.gz you will get gsitemap-5.x-2.x-dev\gsitemap it is you rename the gsitemap to xmlsitemap and place it in sites/all/modules.
