My domain is hosted by hostgator and I am trying decide if Drupal is right for my multi user site.

Installed squidoo clone script on site and just wondering if Drupal was the way to go, and how easy to use

Each site has unique needs. You need to provide some actual info on what you plan on building before one can say weather or not Drupal is right for you.

The site will be multi user so must be user friendly
Members will be able to create there own page/article where they can earn money by advertising with amazon, cafepress, flicker etc.

Drupal is definitely the right choice. On thing though, if you have only shared hosting at Hostgator, then after you'll start getting some more serious traffic (two-three hundred visitors a day and more), you'll need to upgrade to VPS (at least 1 GB of RAM). Membership sites where visitors must log in cannot be efficiently cached and this means a lot of work for the server CPU.
