We're doing too much work and hacking something that shouldn't be hacked just to off-load the core integration of pathauto hooks into pathauto.pathauto.inc. To avoid causing issues, let's just move the functions into pathauto.module, since we can still leave the 'batch' callbacks in the include file no issue.
