Comments as nodes (D7)

Hi everyone,

I have a website with a content type 'problem'. I'd like each comment to a 'problem' node to act as 'suggested solution' (should work with Voting API + Rate modules, contain images, etc) to that problem.

I have read about the "Node Comments" module which can probably achieve this. However it isn't available for D7. Is there another module I am unaware of? Or perhaps is there a better recipe for achieving this result?
