Recently updated to the 2013-01-31 7.x-3.0-rc4 release, and then proceeded with the D7.19 update. The count of anonymous/logged-in users disappeared from my Administration Menu. This is a valuable feature,and not sure where to start looking for the cause. Anyone have a suggestion?

OK just a quick update for anyone else having this issue. Even though "Enabled components: User counts" was checked, the user counts did not appear after updating the module. The reason is because the menu was cached. Disable the check box, clear cache and then re-enable to fix the issue.
