Hey guys. I know Drupal has excellent permissions to adjust, one thing I'm wondering is does drupal have the ability to have a person enter a code when they sign up and that code enables and or restricts certain areas of the site. This code would have to be given to the user before he/she signs up of course.

I really need an answer on this question guys. I found this article http://drupal.org/node/153686 but it's not really my answer. Anything will be great, even if it's a big fat no, it won't work, at least I have my answer then.

I think that the registration code module, http://drupal.org/project/regcode might get you part of the way. You would then set a role depending on which registration code is used.
