Simple rotating filmstrip of images

I am trying to get maybe 20 images to scroll across the bottom of the page in a block.

I have tried all sorts of jcarousel and views slideshows, but they all want me to show one image at a time. I can't seem to get a rolling set of images.

I also don't want to have to make 20 nodes for this - I want to do it in a single node with an image field that allows for multiple images - or even a drop-folder like ddblock allows.

Is this really that hard?
