Forum/Mailing List Integration (Like Yahoo! Groups)

HiltonT - November 11, 2007 - 22:32

Hi All,

I'm investigations options for a usergroup that currently uses a Yahoo! Group for its communication. I'd like to be able to set up a Drupal site that can replicate the Mailing List/Forum integration that Yahoo! Groups offers, without the multiple day delay on mail delivery that Yahoo! Groups also provides at times.

Is there a way to provide this functionality with Drupal?

There seems to be a lot of other appropriate modules that I'd like to also investigate, but this is a major requirement - the email/forum integration.

Regards,
HiltonT

4.7 modules

There are a couple of modules for Drupal 4.7 that might be worth a look:

I haven't used either module and Drupal 4.7 will be out of date before too long, but they're the only ones I know of that do what you're looking for.

Hi Matt, Thanks for this

Hi Matt,

Thanks for this info. Unfortunately, I'll not be installing the soon-to-be-obsoleted version of Drupal for some strange reason. :)

So, aside from thise soon-to-be-obsoleted modules, there's nothing else around? That's a shame. Yahoo is really, really painful to deal with but this list/forum integration is really nice. I just wish something else out there that actually worked also provided this functionality.

It seems that there's a little work on getting Listhandler ported (well, patched really) over to Drupal 5.x, so that's a start.

As for Organic groups list manager, it looks like there's some progress towards Drupal 5.x as well, which may prove to be good.

Oh, well - looks like I'll keep an ear out a bit longer then continue my search elsewhere if I need to.

Regards,
HiltonT

Anyone have insight on listhandler vs mailtoweb? I searched around and have not found a comparison.

Thanks,

Kent
