Two View Panels -- One Controls the Other

I want to create a video embed page which I think would be made up of two different views. On the left would be a video player which has a link to a node associated with the current video's content. On the right are bunches of video thumbnails. When a video on the right is clicked, the video will play in the video player on the left side of the screen. The link below the video player needs to match the video which is currently playing.

Is this something I'd build in Views or can you tell me the keywords to search for to build this in another format (Javascript, AJAX, etc.)? I'm thinking that I'd like to use Views so that the video thumbnails on the right can be filtered to show only certain categories.
