I feel that the example on how to use entity field query against entities is missing in the example and also how to use the entity metadata wrapper is missing.

I'm calling this a duplicate of #916776: Add an EntityFieldQuery example. It's also really a feature request. :-)

Also, for Drupal 7, the metadata wrapper is in the Entity API contrib module, IIRC. Examples only covers core APIs.
