jQuery UI Backport versus Jquery Update

Description

Could you explain to a jQuery virgin like me, the relationship between the two modules?

From descriptions alone it would seem that jQuery UI Backport incorporates jQuery update.
But I doubt you would have duplicated the effort just for the heck of it.

Multiple modules require jQuery update. Will it clash with this module? Co-exist peacefully?
Becomes unnecessary?

The mind boggles :(

They have similar goals, but they accomplish them in different ways. Also, jQuery Update is about using the jQuery Interface plug-in, which is, or will soon be, obsolete. But both modules should co-exist peacefully.

Uh-oh, now you have returned me to my natural (confused) state.

What is going on with jQuery Interface? - a search of drupal.org has produced no results :(
What makes it obsolete? - just post a reference here. Please?

So many thanks in advance!

Thanks for the link. Been there. Read that. All of it. Honestly!

I am curious and worried about the "obsolete" status mentioned above.

Thx!

jQuery Interface was unofficial. There's now an official successor tot his: jQuery UI.

And since jQuery Interface is also not being updated for jQuery 1.2.x compatibility, you can call it obsolete.
