I am wondering if there might be a useful feature that displays the members of a group to the public as opposed to just members of the same group.

In other words a user can see who is in a group before they join it.

Yes, the module presents the members of a group to the public. You can hide choosen members but the sense of the module is to present members of a group (a sporting team, your staff ...) to the public.
The module appends the table to the group homepage and if you do not hide the group homepage, why to hide the teamtable?
Of course i can enhance it with a checkbox to select if the table should only be presented zu the group members. Thanks for that hint!
