Question of the day -- what are you looking for in Drupal hosting

Hi -
I run a hosting company that particularly specializes in Drupal. I ask this partly for my own benefit, and partly for any other host that is doing Drupal support -

What are you looking for in a Drupal hosting company?

What are your main gripes about Drupal hosting?

Please don't get into a diatribe or praise of a particular host - I'm actually looking for a sense of what the community is looking for, scince I don't think we very often ask the question.

Below are something we look

Below are something we look for normally
1. Features to support Drupal, such as Dual versions of PHP (5.2.x, 5.3.x), PHP memory_limited need to be 64MB+, mod_rewrite module should be installed, and more.
2. Tire-3 Datacenter at least
3. A Powerful Server
4. Don't oversell a server too much (I'm sure you will oversell it)
5. Staff need to have good knowledge on Drupal. It's painful for the customers if the support engineers know nothing about Drupal.
6. Good uptime report.

Hi Steve

Here's my list

  • PHP memory of at least 128M
  • Jailed shell access on request - although I don't mind being asked for justification, and I don't mind being asked for additional ID
  • Drush / Git (client) pre-installed on the server, so that they can be used out of the box
  • Cron enabled, allowing at least */15 frequency
  • The PECL modules that Drupal likes to have installed (such as, but not limited to, UploadProgress.so)
  • Fast MySQL databases, with a realistic number of databases allowed so that I can have multi-site installations without having to share databases.

I'm sure there's more, but that's off the top of my head.

Mostly, fast database

Mostly, fast database connections, LAMP stack, lots of databases, and PHP Memory limit that can be set to at least 256MB.
