Newbie : Just running local host X amp while learning the ropes. Hoping to create community website " Allotments..grow your own !
Started with drupal 7.18 improving all the way. Now advised update 7.19.
So made back up Xamp htdocs All sites and all.
Erased 7.18 All under htdocs replaced with 7.19 core: Added "all sites /extra modules ( ck editor)
On start now asking for dBase passwords to start again. Sorry I cant remember them . So much when you start.
Can I recover ? How ? Do I really have to start again? Half way through OReillys "jump start" book
Would really appreciate a step by step guide for dumbos as to manual update 7.18 to 7.19.
Replaced all files under htdocs to back up and we are up and running again. Should I wait for an auto update file ?

use the old sites settings.php file located in sites/default folder which isn't supposed to be deleted when updating. The fact is you don't want to install drupal again you want to update it. I highly suggest that you take the time to read the UPGRADE.txt file included in your drupal download for the properly way to update a drupal site within the same major version.
