In other words Taxonomy game based on work on Q and A Commons well sort of

Ok I had an idea for a way for a social site to play with the Drupal Taxonomy system and its seams to be similar to what you are already accomplishing on the Q&A Commons feature.

Just a quick background I work in the automotive field and we like just about every other field have a few technical terms that get thrown about a bit in conversation. Today we were talking about the two terms understeer and oversteer as it relates to a vehicle in motion through a curve, or in a straight line depending on how bad of a driver you are. Well to those who wouldn't necessarily know what exactly those terms meant they would probably pose the question "What is understeer?" or "What is oversteer?" and they would receive back hopefully a featured answer of

Understeer - a handling characteristic of an automotive vehicle that causes it to turn less sharply than the driver intends because the front wheels slide to the outside of the turn before the rear wheels lose traction.

Oversteer - handling of an automotive vehicle that causes turns that are sharper than the driver intends because the rear wheels slide to the outside of the turn before the front wheels lose traction.

Pretty sexy answers, technical and boring, however I think it could be more fun and social than that.

So picture this that same automotive question generating site, turns the table on the Taxonomy system, and takes it from a ever growing list of keywords that apply to articles and such and makes it useful and in fact quite fun to play with.

If you are still with me I totally have a point or you are losing IQ points.

I was picturing a way to taking a specific set of terms that a community would find relevant to their social niche and that would also be considered sort of a frequently asked questions set of terms. You know the ones like MRI for the medical field, or sauté for cooking people. And creating a content type that includes the technical term and its definition and giving the community the ability to put their own hopefully funny or easier to swallow definition to the term

Example:
[Term] Understeer
[Definition] A handling characteristic of an automotive vehicle that causes it to turn less sharply than the driver intends because the front wheels slide to the outside of the turn before the rear wheels lose traction.
[User Definitions] aka [In other words]
If oversteer is when the passenger panics understeer is when the driver panics.

Users could then vote on the best non-technical definitions to terms relevant to the community. voila you now have a fun way for a community to come together and learn a little and most importantly have some fun, sort of a glossary of relevant community terminology that is mixed with a little Urban Dictionary.

Ok well that was the random idea I had for a Commons feature, I either just gave up some internet site gold or just wasted your time. I just thought it would be a fun way for a community to both share knowledge, and have fun with it at the same time and given what you are up to in Commons Q&A I thought it would be a relatively easily added feature.

The only tricky part would be getting those terms that are written into the community dictionary automatically link to those pages when they are written in articles and other text fields.

Please don't banish me for making a weird feature suggestion, I honestly had like three Bawls energy drinks today, so weird stuff just keeps popping out.
