Drupal Version 4.7.8
Gallery Version 2.2.3
Site Address http://www.thechaffinfamily.net/?q=gallery

I have recently updated my Gallery site with,

Everything works fine under Firefox ( Microsoft Windows XP 2.0.0.9 and Gentoo Linux 2.0.0.6 ) but the 'Zip Cart' plug-in fails to work under Internet Explorer ( Microsoft Windows XP 6.0 sp2 and 7.0) in the embedded version of Gallery. The 'Zip Cart' plug works fine under stand alone Gallery ( http:\\www.thechaffinfamily.org/gallery2 ), stranger still the 'Shutterfly' plug-in works fine under both embedded and stand alone using Ie.

Steps to reproduce error,

  1. Navigate to web site http://www.thechaffinfamily.net/?q=gallery using Microsoft Internet Explorer
  2. Add Album or individual photo's to shopping cart
  3. View Cart to access photos in the cart
  4. Choose Download in Zip from pull-down menu in top right corner and choose Go to continue
  5. Microsoft Internet Explorer does download the file, but you receive error message "Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive".

Important note: Files downloaded with Ie are 1Kb larger then same downloaded images with Firefox?

Your cart (on http://www.thechaffinfamily.net/?q=gallery) seems to work for me both using FF2 and IE7 (WinXP/Vista) ...

Now I am really confused; To date I have used multiple different photo's and albums but 90% of my tests recently (13 Nov to 14 Nov) have been 1) using the Add Album to Cart for 'The Proposal; Snowmass Colorado' album, 2) choosing View Cart and then 3) downloading the cart as a ZIP file.

What photo's have you tried? Did you try embedded Gallery2 or stand alone Gallery2?

Thank you for the help.

I have only tried embedded gallery (you mentioned stand alone to be working) with 'The Proposal; Snowmass Colorado' and 'Monthly Photo with Stuffed Bear' albums and/or individual photos from these albums.

I just tried embedded again on my older (PIII Sony Viao) notebook with Internet Explorer (Version 6.0 Sp2) and it didn't work for 'The Proposal; Snowmass Colorado'. I copied the damaged zip file to my Linux box and received the following error message when I tried to open it,

[/home/mchaffin/Desktop/G2cart.zip]
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
note: /home/mchaffin/Desktop/G2cart.zip may be a plain executable, not an archive
zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /home/mchaffin/Desktop/G2cart.zip or
/home/mchaffin/Desktop/G2cart.zip.zip, and cannot find /home/mchaffin/Desktop/G2cart.zip.ZIP, period.

Is there a way to relax the drupal.org web site attachment's requirements to include *.zip as well as *.tgz?

Is there someway to add extra logging to Drupal?

You can simply append .txt to the the archive, e.g. archive.zip.txt, to attach the file to issues (Drupal only checks the file extension not the actual content).

Is there someway to add extra logging to Drupal?

Hardly. You can check the server logs (php/apache) or add debug prints yourself.
