how does "Select or other" module work under webform?

I have the following modules installed and enabled, but the "select or other" does not seem to work:

Webform: 7.x-4.0-alpha5
Form builder Webform UI: 7.x-1.3
Select (or other): 7.x-2.15

Do I need to do anything special to use "select or other"?

You don't have to do anything. You just get an extra option that says 'Allow "Other..." option' when you use a Select Option component.
