When applying an incorrectly named, expired, or otherwise bad coupon code, no message appears. Similarly, when a correct coupon is applied, the message that confirms this only appears from time to time. I wonder if this is related to the problem I am having with AJAX, that it does not update the payment information pane reliably, see #1919758: Payment methods do not update via AJAX when coupon has been applied.

This used to work well with UC 3.1, but stopped in 3.3, and it does not work in 3.4 either.
