Is it possible to assign products to multiple categories like Prestashop or other cart applications? I tried it with "check boxes/radio buttons" selections, but it shows only radio buttons.

It is, but your question doesn't really pertain to Drupal Commerce. It sounds like you have a taxonomy term reference field creating a product catalog on your site and you need to change it from 1 allowed value to multiple.
