Hi,
Very newbie question, could not realy find it.
I'm able to create a field with a selection field using reference to taxonomy
Now if I want to create simple selection fields like yes/no men/woman
Do I need to create taxonomy for that or is there a less overhead way?

I wouldn't think so. Taxonomy is a method for categorizing content. 3 or more could utilize checkboxes or select lists.
