Hello,
I am a web designer and am hoping someone can give me any advice on how to build a taxonomy or multi-select faceting menu on a website, to help a website visitor focus the search for a product, e.g by colour, brand...
I have Googled for days searching for how it might be done and have ended up on the Drupal website but I have never used Drupal. My experience is in HTML and CSS. Am I in the right place? Would anyone be able to advise me, point me in the right direction or even give me a keyword that I could Google to find out where to start?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Frankie,
On the top of Drupal.org home page use search box for 'taxonomy menu' and refine your search to 'modules' you'll find http://drupal.org/project/taxonomy_menu
There's a demo at http://taxonomymenu.davidstoline.com/ where you will see the taxonomy terms under articles, and the taxonomy menu including all those terms in the sidebar.
Set up Drupal, add your taxonomy, add the taxonomy menu module, add the taxonomy menu block in the sidebar.
taxonomy or multi-select faceting menu
Thank you for your response. I will take a look.
When you say 'set up dDrupal', as I have never done this before, please could you advise me again?
Do I download Drupal, and basicly transfer my exisiting site into the Drupal folder and then once that is done add the 'taxonomy menu'? Thank you agan for your help. Really appreciate it.

You described yourself as a website designer so I'm assuming you design on your own computer using your own server.
Easiest would be to create a database on server, install Drupal into server, then just follow the install procedure, add some test content and install the module. Once you are happy with the site, then you can move it to the live site.
new to Drupal
Thats becoming clearer to me now. Thank you. Yes that's right I have my own computer and my websites have their own hosting packages. I have checked with my host and they say that I can install Drupal on their server to use it on my website, so that's great. Really appreciate your help with this.
When you say 'create a database on server' what do you mean? Do you mean 'create a website'?
Also, would you say for someone new to Drupal and only experienced in HTML and CSS that doing this will be easy, manageable, or very difficult / for advanced coders?
Maybe I should just get started and see how it goes but I am short of time and need to get this done asap.
Thank you so much for your help!
