For anyone that hasn't switched from the default Bluemarine xtemplate version to adrian's phpTemplate version, I really encourage you to do it. I've taken adrian's version of Bluemarine and hacked it together with Federico's Negen theme. I don't really like the look of Bluemarine, but the code is really solid, so I kept the way it operates and changed only the style sheet. Maybe if we all beg, Federico will convert his templates from xTemplate to phpTemplate. Pleeeeaaase.

Anyway, here's the site, again:

Hi Mathew,

Just wondering if you just changed the style sheet with the negen one or was there more hacking involved?

i don't remember exactly what was involved. most of the changes were in the css though. here's a zip with the theme. if anyone can use it, feel free.

how you set up the dl? just create a http://link to the file? I would like to make the zip of a version of bluemarine available also as you have.

Thanks

thanks for posting this. will add a link back to your site when i get mine up.

Where can this version of Bluemarine be found? Couldn't see it anywhere I looked.

leblank@cyberocity.com’s picture

... and you can do a lot with it. I have tried myself. Take a look at the "smoky" version I have been hacking on, tell me what you think? http://www.cyberocity.com

Anyway your comment about the solidness I found very true also. Good base for modifying into whatever you like.

Now if I can just figure out how to add banners ...

timothy bennett’s picture

Love this smoky version, LeBlank! I've got a site that this is perfect for. How can I get it?

leblank@cyberocity.com’s picture

... if someone wants it I would be happy to contribute it to the community. You are welcome to this hack of bluemarine, though it is as yet unnamed and still in the bluemarine folder.

I guess I'll have to put it in it's own folder and name it. There are 3 small image files and I thought maybe 'seamist' or smokyblue' ... yes I think "smokyblue" is my best suggestion, however I defer to drupal.org staff who supplied the bluemarine theme with ver. 4.5.2 originally.

I haven't put the banners hook in the top right yet. Hope that's not a problem. I could finsh that up pretty quickly I guess.

How do I make it available? Should I contribute it to drupal org or what? anyone have a suggestion?

stevensj2’s picture

I'd say submit it here, that way everyone has access to it, and not just those who view this thread.

It would make an excellent contribution, and would definitely be appreciated.

I set up a dnload directory and the path to the bluesmoke theme (hack of bluemarine) for any who care to get it is

http://cyberocity.com/download/themes/bluesmoketheme.zip

Banners are not hooked up (upper right) and there is a small glitch with the search box on the upper right in Firefox. Probably just a .css padding or spacing thing.

No warranty, use at your own risk! Seems pretty solid though I use this.

Have fun!

as you can see, the text is somehow broken

It was Gordon who did the conversation. The template is here:

http://drupal.org/files/projects/bluemarine-cvs.tar.gz

Good work. Gordon, what about branching it for 4.5 and/or 4.6 so people can find it easier?

At last the project has been set up, but I am not the owner. I will branch it now, but it should work on both 4.5 and 4.5 of the phptemplate engine.

I have tags it for drupal 4.6, I am pretty sure that it will work on 4.5 if someone will confirm it I will tag that too. give it about 24 hours and the tar file should be there for download.

Very nice theme, but on IE, none of the images in the tabs are showing:
www.actforkanchi.org/testsite

I uploaded the entire directory.

The display is beautiful in Firefox.

venkat-rk’s picture

Another thing I noticed is that the primary links do not follow the drupal site structure. For example, my installation is on www.actforkanchi.org/testsite but the primary links point to the root domain (www.actforkanchi.org/blog instead of www.actforkanchi.org/testsite/blog).

The theme is correctly installed in the themes folder within /testsite where Drupal is installed.

Any suggestions?

menesis’s picture

the primary links in that theme are hardcoded. open the page.tpl.php file and remove them. Then copy the code from some other theme (bluemarine, or box_grey) to iterate through primary links defined in some phptemplate based theme configure page.

venkat-rk’s picture

Thanks a ton. Such a nice theme that I was disappointed I couldn't use it.

venkat-rk’s picture

sorted this out but noticed that the images belong to the interlaced theme whereas the download comes with the standard bluemarine theme images.

iraszl’s picture

Nice site nautis. Love how you styled the images.

You're right the Adrian's phptemplate for bluemarine is excellent! CSS is written so well and clear. It's a joy to work with! :D
