Wanting to become a Develper but what is Drupal written in?

This may sound like a Stupid question but I have been trying to find out what language Drupal and its extras are written in. I have been using DRUPAL to host a number of sites so I have a fairly even knowledge of the basics of Drupal itself but now I wanrt to learn about what makes it work and begin to write my own utilities for it

The Story being, I have a wide knowledge of Networks etc but for various reasons I now need to learn to work from home and felt that it was time to take up Programming again and DRUPAL excites me..So..Could anyone give me some directions on Where to start? Is It C based?

I Am grateful for any advice and thank you in advance

Try not take this the wrong way (i promise I'm really not trying to be a smart ass), but if you're not self-help savvy enough to click the 'about' button at the top of this page or visit the drupal wikipedia page ("Drupal (pron.: /ˈdruːpəl/) is a free and open-source content management framework (CMF) written in PHP and..."), then you might want to seriously reconsider jumping into drupal development as a living. Drupal is known for it's learning curve. And although I find the documentation better than most, as with any open source, it often requires lots of reverse engineering and self reliant detective work to figure out what or how to do what you need to do. In all honesty I would consider troubleshooting and reverse engineering skills to be more indicative of success with drupal than familiarity with any particular language or programming paradigm.

Thanks and YES, you are right = If I could not find out for myself then maybe I should think abiot it but the thing is, I DID find out...and I managed to do it while doing something else,.s o lol..
And I have taken no insult from the comments and I thank you VERY Much for your honesty
