[Meta] - As a site Administrator I would like to upgrade from 6.x-2.x to 7.x-3.? without losing functionality

A number of features in Commons 2.x didn't make it into the MVP for Commons 3.x. As a site Administrator I would like to upgrade without loosing functionality. The following features need to eventually be added to Commons or documented as deprecated.

Functionality:

#1743014: Support activity digest emails and #1539348: As a community member, I'd like to change frequency of my all email notifications
#1969088: Changes to group browsing widget & user status updates replaces (#1930666: Support micro-blogging/status in Activity Stream)
#1932110: Support turning features on and off per-group
#1932162: Support user relationships besides follow (such as Friend)
#1964510: Post comments via email reply to notification
#1864984: D7 Commons Subgroups feature
Bookmarks flag needs to be configured (in Commons 2.x you could just click enable)

Commons 2.x verse 3.x design/UI items:

#1937532: As a user I want to know how many comments are on a post when viewed in the Activity stream

Note: my hope is that most of these features can be re-introduced or documented as deprecated before Drupal 8 comes out. But that's really a question ezra-g, Aquia and the other commons contributors.
