Hi. I know quite a bit about Drupal's core concepts and modules.
I want to start a blog though.
Is Drupal the right tool, or should I use something specifically designed for blogging?

Drupal can do blogging no problem. However, if all you're ever going to do is blog, it might be simpler to use wordpress. If however, you need drupal's power and flexibility, then it's worthwhile to use drupal and expand it as the need arises.
