There is effectively no documentation about views integration. There is a line on the module homepage and several lines on the documentation page about Drupal 6. None of this even says what the Views integration does. If I can figure this out, I will contribute documentation for Drupal 7, but I have no idea where to start. The clues given don't net a result and two hours worth of searching has turned up results that are generally confused.

Does the Views integration allow me to filter out the Taxonomy items that are injected into the menu?

The Views integration does not change the menu.

You can change the page, that is shown when you select a view.
But that is out of scope for this module.
Just search for (variants of ) "Override the taxonomy term page with views 3 in Drupal 7"
