A Digital Development Manager at Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research must really love building digital things and get excited about the latest developments in digital technologies, interface and experience.
We’re a large charity, raising over £20m a year to beat blood cancers - but that’s not enough. Our ambitions are to reach £30m a year soon and digital is going to play a huge part in that. Our digital team punches well above its size; we do almost all our development in-house and are extremely ambitious in what we deliver. We develop our main site in Drupal, our CRM system in CiviCRM and we’re the only charity to have built our own crowdfunding platform - Pledgeit - on Symfony and Backbone.js. We do well because we care about our work, and who we work for.
We need a technical expert to drive our development. We’re open source first, develop mostly in php but we need someone capable of making platform choices based on needs and experience. Code has to excite you, good code has to be important to you.
We want someone who is driven, ambitious and inspiring, who shows initiative, enjoys a variety of projects and is willing to get involved in as much as possible. You need to want to change the world.
Working here has to be something you look forward to. A positive outlook and attitude of sharing and willingness to learn is key. We want someone who finds what we do exciting – both as a team and as an organisation.
WE’D LIKE YOU TO HAVE AS MANY OF THESE AS POSSIBLE (but not necessarily all):
- Really strong technical skills
- A body of digital projects you’ve delivered that you can point us to
- Good knowledge of php, drupal, symfony, javascript, css
- Experience of managing a team delivering digital products
- Really strong project management skills, comfortable mastering agile scrums or writing comprehensive specification documents
- A history of contributions to open source software
- A history of contributing to Drupal
- A passion for digital and knowledge of current digital trends
- Experience of producing digital products that compels and engages users
- The ability to deal with diverse projects and deliver within tight deadlines
- Experience of training people
- Relevant degree or comparable experience
- The role reports into the Head of Digital & CRM and manages the dev team.
The salary is up to £35000pa.

Can you work with someone remote?
Salary is not great, for the typical asking for moon and stars, dunno what situation is in UK IT market but you might want to relook at your budget for this.
