In some of my sites there apppear numbers beside each menu items.

Both in FireFox and IE6.
In Garland, too.

These numbers are the actual menu item ids. They can be enabled and disabled via Devel module settings in admin/settings/devel. Don't know why you enabled Admin Menu's developer settings, but anyhow, you can disable them there.
