I understand that 6.x is mostly frozen (slushy?), but who do I need to hug to get this into 7.x?

I mean, patching is fun, but you definitely have better things to do on occasion (like writing more modules ;-)

You're right and I'll be pushing some of these for D7 inclusion. Advcache is a great testbed for core patches.
