Anonymous (not verified) commentedI too have a set of icons that I want to associate with menu items. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Anonymous (not verified) commentedI spent quite a bit of time looking at the theme, trying to figure out how to add my own icons, to no avail. Even some instructions re: how to manually add new icons would be great. Also, is there a way to have it only display the icon with no text?

jwwest2 commentedSo I am a total beginner, not formally trained in any of this. However, I've been muddling through and did find a solution to this. It's a multi-step process and I'll try to go back and document it step-by-step. But the gist of it is I downloaded one of the icons and used it as a template and created a new icon in gimp. I renamed it and uploaded it back to the same folder. I then went into the main CSS file, copied one of the sections referring to the other menu items and customized it for my new menu item. I think the end result is pretty good, although I might go back and tweak my icon a little more so it matches the others.
I'll take a crack at working up a step-by-step later on today.
Did anyone find some additional icons? It'd be great if we had a better interface for specifying icons for new menu items with soem prepopulated icons.

Anonymous (not verified) commentedFYI - I ended up using the Menu Icons module and it worked very well. It allows you to assign an icon image to the menu item. Additionally, I did not want the text to display the Menu Icons has an option to hide the text if an image is uploaded. Worked great.

jwwest2 commentedLooks great and probably a better solution than what I did! Also saves me the time of figuring out how I did it!
Thanks!

heather commentedAny updates to this?
1) What do the distro maintainers feel about this question - "Even some instructions re: how to manually add new icons would be great. Also, is there a way to have it only display the icon with no text?" Should we be making sub-themes?
2) The Menu icons module looks like a great solution. Are the distro maintainers considering adding support for that?

ezra-g commentedI agree that Menu icons is a good solution here for adding site-specific icons. There's no current icon set beyond the default ones which are available in the Commons download and as part of the Commons design source project.

giorgio79 commentedThanks ezra-g. That link is broken.
Integration with https://www.drupal.org/project/icon would be welcome :)
