Why is the (has) taxonomy (with depth) filter autocomplete only?

First of all, I think the taxonomy with depth filter is a bit obscure to be found. Don't know why is not better to have a simple option to take into account the hierarchy within the option of a regular taxonomy filter.

Second I wanna know why is the (has) taxonomy (with depth) filter only available as an autocomplete field? I would prefer having a normal select list.
